applejuicze a pack with a punch

Today I taught a workshop at Herfordshire and part of the workshop was a fashion shoot in the area of the hatfield house, a great area but no power anywhere.
Because I'm shooting tethered during a workshop the main problem is always the time I can shoot.
Normally the max time is app 2 hours and after that I have to switch to start shooting on the card and downloading these, the photoshoot took from 12:00-18:00 so there's no change to do this on a battery.
Well so I thought.

The guys from Peartree already posted something in the thread about the MBP but today they were assisting me with my workshop and they brought one of those little miracles.
Remember I'm not getting paid by Peartree so read this as a photographer with a need for power on location that is totally convinced of this product.

The applejuicze is a very small battery pack, it's app as thick as the MBP17 and it's a little bit smaller than half of the MBP17".
There's one cable running from the applejuicze to the powerconnector of your macbook or macbook pro.

The impressive thing was they brought a unit that was not fully charged and that already ran two hours in the morning during the theory part of the workshop.
So when I brought it outside it was not 100% topped off.

Just try to empty it....... that was my challenge and I did.
I put the GPU in the high performance mode, brightness of the screen on full power and for fun blu-tooth and wifi were activated.

When Peartree left at 17:15 we disconnected the applejuicze and my battery was on 70% within 45 minutes (normally with everything set for energy saving it runs 90 minutes without a problem at the moment)
It goes without saying that this product is amazing and I really wanted to share this here because I know there are some photographers working on location and shooting tethered.

The biggest problem with the accu packs inside a laptop is that when they drop to app 65%-70% blank frames or stripes will appear on the frames and the complete setup is unusable.
Some people will get 2 hours shooting with a digital back, some will get 90 minutes, but they will never run from the morning till the evening.
We now finally have a product that does.

HIGHLY recommended.
I've ordered one for my notebook, it's wonderful to never have to worry about power on location anymore for the laptop without dragging out a generator.

Thanks for sharing this Frank!  I am gearing up for some location shoots and hate using my Leaf back screen.   This is great!!

Now, loan me $500 for the MacBook Pro version!   Grin
